JavaScript for KidsⒸ  –  Completed Spring 2022
Learn basic web programming using the JavaScript language. JavaScript is a key language used in developing web pages and this course will introduce student to JavaScript and basic web page construction. Using JavaScript, students will how to:

  • build a “dancing” robot,
  • build an animated “choo-choo” train
  • build a pizza order applicaton, and
  • build a supply-and-demand application.

Course Requirements:

  • ~12 one-hour class sessions
  • Middle/High School Age
  • Must provide JavaScript for Kids for Dummies© text book(1)
  • Must provide a Windows laptop(2) meeting these requirements:
    1. Intel Core i3 11th generation processor or better
    2. 8GB or more RAM
    3. 256GB SSD
    4. HDMI port
    5. Windows 10 or better (must be 64-bit)

If your student plans to attend the “Learn PHP and MySQL” class in the future, consider upgrading to the laptop required for that class, instead.

Learning PHP and MySQL  –  Completed Fall 2022

Learn how to code and run web apps that create, read, update and deleted stored information, and code web apps for an online pet catalog and an authorized members directory. Using PHP and MySQL, students will be introduced to AJAX concepts, reading and storing data into MySQL databases, and how to use modal “popup” windows

Course Requirements:

  • ~10 one-hour class sessions
  • Middle/High School Age
  • Must have completed JavaScript for Kids© text book (or class)
  • Must provide PHP & MySQL for Dummies© text book(3)
  • Must provide a Windows laptop(4) meeting these requirements:
    1. Intel Core i5 11th generation processor or better
    2. 16GB or more RAM
    3. 512GB SSD
    4. HDMI port
    5. Windows 10 or better (must be 64-bit)
